Jumpers for goalposts

I found this story about Gallilee United a football team for boys from 6 Jewish and 6 Arab and Druze communities who play football and compete together. It reminds me of the Christmas Day football match in the trenches, or something more orchestrated such as the peace and reconciliation projects in Northern Ireland at the height of the troubles.

This is a direct example of how play can cross boundaries, it’s something that unites us regardless of who our societies form us to be and create opportunities for friendship which simply don’t emerge in any other context.
